Solar power project in India
India has been actively involved in solar power projects and has made significant strides in the field of renewable energy. Here are a few notable solar power projects in India:
Kamuthi Solar Power Project: Located in Tamil Nadu, it is one of the largest solar power plants in the world. Spread over 2,500 acres, it has a capacity of 648 megawatts (MW).
Pavagada Solar Park: Situated in Karnataka, it is one of the largest solar parks in the world. With a planned capacity of 2,050 MW, it spans across 13,000 acres.
Bhadla Solar Park: Located in Rajasthan, it is one of the largest solar parks in India. The park has a planned capacity of 2,255 MW and is spread over 14,000 acres.
Rewa Solar Power Project: Situated in Madhya Pradesh, it is one of the largest single-site solar power projects in India. It has a capacity of 750 MW and was commissioned in 2018.
Charanka Solar Park: Located in Gujarat, it is one of the largest solar parks in India. With a capacity of over 590 MW, it has become a prominent solar power generation hub.
These are just a few examples of the numerous solar power projects taking place in India. The Indian government has implemented various initiatives and policies to promote solar energy, including subsidies, incentives, and the ambitious target of achieving 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022, out of which 100 GW is allocated to solar power.
